Oh the irony.

This Real ID fiasco just keeps getting better and better. The ESRB replying to the 1000+ emails complaining about Blizzard’s Real ID informing them Blizzard had recanted unintentionally used the “reply all” feature.  This effectively shared the 1000+ email addresses with all 1000+ people who had complained.

The deepest irony here is the last paragraph of the letter ( you can read it in its entirety at WoW.com):

ESRB, through its Privacy Online program, helps companies develop practices to safeguard users’ personal information online while still providing a safe and enjoyable video game experience for all. We appreciate your taking the time to contact us with your concerns, and please feel free to direct any future inquiries you may have regarding online privacy to our attention.

So…if you haven’t drawn the connections yet… 1000+ people complaining about Blizzard sharing their personal information had their email address shared to 1000+ strangers. Nice.

The ESRB of course was mortified one of their employees had done this and profusely apologized.

Mythic is out to get me! O.o

Today, I received my Collector’s Edition of Warhammer Online. Starting off my very first real WAR subscription.

Everything is going really well. My mom also bought the CE because we tend to play together (she’s disabled so its my way of helping keep her sane and interacting with people ‘cuz she can’t leave the house often). Upon activating our accounts we have to download the full client.  Because of some error she has to restart her download three or four times. I never had to restart my download. Guess who finished first? Her. By how much? Over an hour and a half before me who started first with no errors. Go figure. It gets better.

We finally get in-game and my client errors out at the server select screen. No biggy. I log back in. We start playing. In the Dwarf starting area we have to do a quest that has a chance of spawning a bad guy. She does 3/4 crates without a spawn. Me? EVERY SINGLE CRATE.

The final proof Mythic Entertainment was out to get me today came about 15 minutes after that quest. One quest involves using cannons to fire across a chasm at some greenskins (orcs/goblins/trolls). I start happily annhilating the NPCs who are incapable of crossing the massive chasm and by no means are intended to attack you. At least that was the idea.  Within seconds of firing my first volleys my screen starts flashing red indicating I’m being attacked. I finish annihilating the green menaces across the way and then release the cannon to find a goblin smacking at me. I target the guy and try to attack: “Invalid Target” spams across my screen. What? Here this little green snot is beating on me and I can do nothing to defend myself. I run around hoping to lose him and he keeps following me. HE WON’T LEAVE ME ALONE! My health reaches a point where I need a heal. My mom being a rune priest heals me and finally her heal aggro pulls the mob onto her. Within a matter of seconds she’s able to convince the mob to turn around and leave us alone. Go figure. Continue reading “Mythic is out to get me! O.o” »
